Ladies Preseason 2024/25
The best way to get involved in the club early and make lasting friendships!
What is Preseason?
Preseason is one of the best opportunities you will have to get a head start both socially and in your hockey.
It allows us to welcome you into the club right from the beginning to assess your hockey level (we absolutely welcome beginners too!) and place you on the right team. Throughout the week there is a mix of hockey training and socials (often with the Men’s club) to keep you busy and ensure you have a fun time. Preseason is especially good for bonding with new and old members to we highly encourage everyone to take part.
FAQs
-
The 24/25 preseason will take place from the 10-14th of September.
-
You are guaranteed a place at one of our members houses - usually exec members. This is another great way to make bonds as you will be living with club members for the duration of preseason.
-
If you have your own stick/goalie kit them please bring it! However, this is not an expectation and we are happy to provide you equipment for preseason. If you are expecting to be a long term player we highly encourage you to eventually buy your own - but again this is not needed for preseason.
-
Preseason is free for anyone to join in on! The only costs we expect you to pay is for your own food and drinks.
-
The best way is to join our Freshers FB page linked above! You will get direct updates there. If you would like to talk to someone more directly message our Vice President Darcey Coates!(darcey.coates@warwick.ac.uk).
-
Don’t worry at all! We will be running lots of fun sessions of hockey over freshers week and beyond for you to join in on.
Hear from last year’s preseason freshers
"Taking part in the UWWHC preseason last year was one of the best things I have ever decided to do. It was a great way to get a feel for the club whilst making friends and getting to know the area before even joining the University for freshers week. I had so much fun playing hockey and at the socials, and it really helped me when I came back for freshers as I already knew people I could go to events with and explore campus with. I definitely recommend it to anyone who is interested!!"

"I first joined UWWHC for a couple of days of preseason completely new to both Hockey and Warwick Uni and it was definitely one of the best choices I made. It can be intimidating trying an entirely new sport in a completely new environment but everyone was so friendly and welcoming! Coming in as a postgraduate fresher with no hockey experience didn't matter because everyone was so lovely and made me feel a part of the club. I made my closest friends from UWWHC so definitely give it a go if you are thinking about it!!"

“I first joined UWWHC at their preseason, a few weeks before starting Uni and moving to Warwick. I stayed with some lovely members of the exec who made me feel so welcome and was able to meet some of the new freshers too! This really helped in welcome week by having some familiar faces :)”
