Charity!

Fundraising and supporting charity is a key focus for our club and each year we choose a local and national charity to help support. This year we have chosen to support the Malala Fund UK and LWS Leamington Night Shelter.

Together as a club we vote to decided our chosen charities so we strongly encourage anyone with particular interest in a charity to make a suggestion. We aim to support charities that are meaningful to our members, reflect our club goals and showcase the interests of our current members.

Since September we have worked hard to raise money and conducted events to help raise awareness for multiple great causes. Below you can see a few examples of these!

Some of the charity events we have done!

  • Charity tournament 2024

    Every year we have a charity tournament where we invite other sports clubs to take part in a day-long tournament with a fancy dress theme, this year’s was Animal Safari!

  • Charity Run

    In May 2024 some of our members participated in a Cancer Research Race for Life! 4 girls ran 5k and raised a total of £1,439 in this one event!

  • Charity Quiz

    In December the Men’s and Ladies Charities officers got together to put on a quiz for us all. We had many rounds of questions and some many rounds of drinks, and had a wonderful time while raising some money.

  • Hockey Ball Raffle

    After dinner at our annual UWHC Hockey Ball, ran by the Men’s and Women’s Vice President, we held a Charity Raffle. A range of prizes was up for grabs and so many tickets were bought! This was a very successful way to raise some money money for our chosen Charities.

  • Fresher Talent Show

    A tradition for our Freshers: In whatever groups you choose, usually in your on-pitch teams, groups of freshers put on the performance of their lives for the other members of the club. This is always an incredibly entertaining event and the entry ticket cost goes to charity!

  • Charity Fortnight

    In February, we had our charity fortnight, where we dedicated two weeks to raising money for Cancer Research. We had our annual fresher talent show, pie the exec, yoga session and charity queen of beers competiton.

  • Charity cake sale

    As part of our charity fortnight, we held a bake sale on the piazza alongside a ‘Pie the Exec’ to raise money for Cancer Research.
